Bruce Canal

Segment Development Manager for Education @Axis Communications

Bruce is responsible for developing and driving business strategy for the segment, driving brand awareness, and cultivating partner and end-user relationships at Axis. He is also involved in a broad range of education related initiatives. Mr. Canal brings over 25 years of education-related security experience and is the former director of physical security for the 8th largest school district in the United States, Orange County Public Schools in Orlando, FL. His first career was serving as an officer for the Indiana State Police. Mr. Canal is accredited by ASIS International as a Certified Protection Professional and is an active member of both the “School Safety and Security” and the “Crime Prevention” communities. He is also a member of the National School Resource Officers Association, Partnership Alliance for Safer Schools and Zero Now. Mr. Canal holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Indiana University and a MBA from Indiana Wesleyan University.

Director of Public Safety/Chief of Police @Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA)

Daniel Dusseau has been involved in public safety for 34 years. He served more than 21 years in a major urban police department where he worked in almost every aspect before retiring at the rank of Major. Chief Dusseau currently oversees police and emergency management operations at the largest college in Virginia and one of the largest and most diverse in the US. Since his arrival at NOVA he has successfully transitioned the multi-campus college into a centralized operation, with a well-regarded professionalized police department, that has reduced crime by 65% and established a greater culture of safety across the entire College. Chief Dusseau currently provides expertise in a variety of state and regional councils, task forces and to houses of worship.

Martin Renkis

Vice President of Technology Architecture for Security Products @Johnson Controls

Martin is leading digital transformation of physical security worldwide with innovative Security as a Service solutions driven by cloud, IoT and AI. He was the former founder and CEO of Smartvue which was the industry's first cloud video surveillance platform and was acquired by Johnson Controls in 2018. He is a prolific inventor with more than 72 patents and dozens of awards for his industry leading technologies in video surveillance. Martin also supports entrepreneurship as a mentor at Vanderbilt University.
